Goldman Sachs, the world’s largest investment bank, has acknowledged digital assets in its annual shareholder letter for the first time, marking a significant shift in traditional finance’s approach to cryptocurrency.

The bank noted that while distributed ledger technology (DLT), cryptocurrency, and blockchain are becoming more prevalent, the technology remains nascent and vulnerable to potential risks such as cyberattacks, volatility, and regulatory challenges.

Goldman Sachs also highlighted that it has invested resources into adapting its products and services to accommodate these emerging technologies, including AI and blockchain, and expects to continue making material investments in the space.
